In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
