Ingredients
For the Steak:
-
1½ lbs flank or skirt steak
-
6 cloves garlic, chopped
-
1 tbsp chipotle chili powder
-
1 tbsp onion powder
-
1 tbsp smoked paprika
-
½ cup orange juice
-
¼ cup tamari or soy sauce
-
1 tbsp honey
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
1–2 jalapeños
-
Warm flour or corn tortillas
-
Sliced avocado, crumbled feta cheese, shredded lettuce (for serving)
For the Mango Salsa:
-
1 cup mango chunks
-
2 tbsp lime juice
-
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
-
Sea salt, to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 475°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oil it.
-
Marinate Steak: On the prepared sheet pan, place the steak. Rub it with garlic, chipotle chili powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Drizzle with orange juice, tamari (or soy sauce), honey, and olive oil. Toss to coat evenly. If time allows, let it marinate for 20–30 minutes.
-
Add Jalapeños: Place 1–2 whole jalapeños on the sheet pan alongside the steak.
-
Roast Steak: Roast in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Then switch the oven to broil and cook for an additional 2–5 minutes until the steak develops a nice char. Cooking time may vary depending on steak thickness.
-
Rest and Slice: Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then, thinly slice it against the grain. Toss the sliced steak with the pan juices for extra flavor.
-
Prepare Mango Salsa: While the steak rests, combine mango chunks, lime juice, chopped cilantro, and a pinch of sea salt in a bowl. Chop the roasted jalapeños (deseed if desired for less heat) and add them to the salsa. Mix well.
-
Assemble Tacos: Warm the tortillas. Fill each with sliced steak, mango salsa, avocado slices, shredded lettuce, and crumbled feta cheese. Serve immediately and enjoy!
