Irresistible Honey-Glazed Chicken Ham Recipe 🍯

  • Author: Mary

Ingredients

The Core Ingredients:

  • Honey: The main sweetener, responsible for caramelization.

  • Brown Sugar: Adds depth and molasses-like richness.

  • Dijon Mustard: Cuts the sweetness with gentle tang.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Brightens the glaze and adds complexity.

  • Garlic Powder: For that extra layer of savory flavor.

  • Cinnamon & Cloves: Warm, holiday-inspired spices.

  • Black Pepper: Subtle heat to balance sweetness.

You can also customize it with add-ins like:

  • Orange zest

  • Crushed red pepper flakes

  • A splash of orange juice (instead of alcohol-based glazes)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare

Set your oven to 325°F. While it’s heating, take your chicken ham out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

Step 2: Score the Ham

Using a sharp knife, lightly slice the surface of the ham in a crisscross pattern. This step helps the glaze penetrate the meat and creates beautiful caramelized edges.

Step 3: Make the Glaze

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all glaze ingredients. Stir until smooth, simmering gently for about 3–5 minutes. Do not boil vigorously—just enough to meld flavors.

Step 4: Glaze and Bake

Place the ham in a roasting pan with a rack. Brush a generous layer of glaze over the entire surface. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes per pound, basting every 20 minutes with more glaze.

Step 5: Final Glaze and Broil

In the last 20 minutes of baking, remove the foil. Brush with the remaining glaze and broil for 5–10 minutes, keeping an eye out to avoid burning. This gives the glaze that beautiful, sticky finish.

Step 6: Rest and Slice

Let the ham rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. This locks in moisture and keeps the meat juicy.
