Ingredients
-
1 bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos, crushed
-
8 oz block of cheddar cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
2 large eggs, beaten
-
1/2 cup milk
-
1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
-
Oil for frying
Instructions
-
Prepare the Breading Stations:
-
Place the crushed Doritos in a shallow bowl.
-
In a separate bowl, add the all-purpose flour.
-
In a third bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs and milk.
-
In a fourth bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
-
-
Bread the Cheese Cubes:
-
Dredge each cheddar cheese cube in the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated.
-
Dip the floured cheese cube into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
-
Roll the cheese cube in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
-
Finally, coat the cheese cube with the crushed Doritos, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating.
-
Place the breaded cheese cubes on a plate and repeat the process with the remaining cubes.
-
-
Fry the Cheese-Stuffed Doritos:
-
In a deep fryer or large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
-
Carefully add a few breaded cheese cubes to the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pot.
-
Fry the cheese cubes for about 1-2 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
-
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried cheese cubes from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
-
Repeat the frying process with the remaining cheese cubes.
-
-
Serve:
-
Allow the Fried Cheese-Stuffed Doritos to cool slightly before serving.
-
Enjoy them on their own or pair with your favorite dipping sauce.
