  • Author: Mary

Ingredients

Cheese Ball Base

  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone

  • Β½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ΒΌ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Decorations (Antipasto Toppings)

  • Cherry tomatoes, halved

  • Green olives, pitted

  • Black olives, pitted

  • Mini pepperoni slices or salami chunks

  • Roasted red pepper strips

  • Fresh rosemary or parsley sprigs

  • Cubed mozzarella or provolone cheese

  • Toothpicks for attaching decorations

Optional Garnishes

  • Crackers, crostini, breadsticks for serving

  • Star-shaped cheese cutout (for tree topper)

Instructions

Step 1: Mix the Cheese Ball

In a large bowl, combine:

  • Softened cream cheese

  • Shredded mozzarella

  • Parmesan

  • Italian seasoning

  • Garlic powder

  • Red pepper flakes (if using)

  • Salt and pepper

Mix thoroughly using a spoon or hand mixer until smooth and evenly combined.

Step 2: Shape Into a Tree

Place the cheese mixture on parchment paper or a serving board. Using clean hands or a spatula, mold it into a cone-shaped Christmas tree about 6–8 inches tall.

Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1–2 hours (or overnight) to firm up before decorating.

Step 3: Decorate Your Tree

Once chilled, unwrap the cheese ball and place it on your final serving platter.

Attach antipasto toppings using toothpicks or press gently into the cheese. Use:

  • Cherry tomatoes and olives as β€œornaments”

  • Rosemary or parsley to mimic pine branches

  • Roasted red peppers as garlands or ribbons

  • Cubed cheese or meats as colorful accent decorations

  • Star-shaped cheese slice for the top (optional)

Fill in any gaps and fluff herbs for a full tree look.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

Serve chilled or at room temperature with crackers, breadsticks, or veggie sticks. The tree can sit out for up to 2 hours.
